Zainab Bala is a Nigerian journalist and communications strategist driven by one mission: to amplify voices that are too often ignored. On Volume with FemiDlive,she speaks on the committment to finding quiet stories that are human-centred stories that challenge power.
She founded and leads The Scoop Storytelling Initiative, a nonprofit that puts storytelling back into the hands of underrepresented communities. Her work has earned significant recognition: the 2021 Michael Elliot Award from the International Centre for Journalists, support from the IWMF’s Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists, and the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Journalism.
In 2022, she was named a Mandela Washington Fellow by the U.S. Department of State. She later joined the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Trust network, an explicit acknowledgement of her leadership in media and development.
